2008 National Alpaca Farm Days

We are looking forward to 2009 National Alpaca Days and hoping for better weather. Here is a photo tour of last year's open farm experience.

Thank goodness for large tents!

We are so thankful that our church allowed us to use this tent. We wanted to be prepared for sun or rain and we were. We were able to set up our picnic table under it and still have lots of fun in spite of the rain.

Aren't They Cute?

If you have never seen an baby alpaca, called a cria, up close, you are in for a treat. They are so adorable that you just want to squeeze them!

Who are you?

Crias are naturally shy and should be - in their natural mountain environment, they could be prey for various wild predators.

What is a Suri Alpaca?

Our goal on this day is not just to have fun but to educate everyone about alpacas, both kinds: Suri and Huacaya. This poster provides some of that information in a handy way.

Meet Prince Caspian

Prince Caspian is our guard llama. His job is to protect our alpacas from attack by any predators. He also wants to know who each human is who comes to "his" farm.
